Sustainability at Forum Engineering

In order to realize a sustainable society, we are engaged in various efforts to provide more opportunities for engineers and other personnel to leverage their skills.

Our Issue Awareness

The number of STEM students with a grounding in mechanical and electrical engineering is on a downward trend in Japan, and of the 40,000 or so new graduates each year, approximately half are moving into careers other than engineering. Furthermore, due to the compounding factors of a declining birthrate and retiring second-generation baby boomers, the shortage of mechanical and electrical engineers supporting manufacturing in Japan is set to continue.
Our Issue Awareness

Our Hope

In order to carve out a new future for manufacturing in Japan and to create new possibilities, we are approaching and supporting people involved in manufacturing with a sense of hope.

We hope that STEM students don’t give up on mechanical and electrical engineering, that experienced engineers realize their skills can be an asset in other roles, and that companies looking for talent understand AI-driven skill-matching systems.
At Forum Engineering, we aim to give more engineers opportunities to find jobs that make use of their skills.

Our Actions

Facilitating the mobility of engineering personnel will allow companies to make effective use of valuable engineering talent. We achieve this with Cognavi, our direct matching system that uses AI to visualize the skills and expertise of engineers.
The Cognavi platform is designed to mobilize engineering personnel and support the future of the Japanese manufacturing industry.

By revolutionizing engineer recruitment with Cognavi, we assist the mechanical and electrical engineers who support the Japanese manufacturing industry, at every stage of their careers.

Discover Future Possibilities with an Engineering Work Seminar from Experienced Engineers

We run seminars held by our former engineers with experience of working for manufacturers, which have already been attended by over 47,000 students from 120 universities.* These seminars explore the appeal of working as a mechanical or electrical engineer and the job satisfaction that engineering provides, which can’t be learned from college lectures, as well as introducing the types of industries and jobs available to university graduates.

Re-learning opportunities provided by customized reskilling seminars.

“Cognavi College” connects with universities across Japan, offering companies the opportunity to continually train engineers with the help of faculty members and university facilities. We take care of the planning and formulation of training content, as well as coordinating between companies and universities up until the start of training, so you can hone the basic knowledge of junior employees and acquire the expertise needed to work with the latest technologies. There are currently 11 affiliated universities,* and we will expand further in the future.

Helping Save Future Lives with the “Rescue Robot Contest”

We sponsor the “Rescue Robot Contest”, a robot contest that focuses on lifesaving activities during large-scale urban disasters. We are proud to support the “Rescue Robot Contest” and believe in its goal to spread awareness of disaster prevention and disaster reduction activities, in order to create a world that is resistant to disasters, as well as providing places and opportunities to foster creativity.

Investing in Social Bonds and Learning for Everyone

Japanese student support bonds are issued under the Social Bond Principles (2020 edition) defined by the ICMA (International Capital Market Association). Investment in these bonds will fund the Type 2 scholarships provided by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), which help expand learning opportunities and high-quality education for students.

AI-Matching Technology Helps Engineers Shape Their Careers

By developing and leveraging unique AI-based technology, we have created a way of directly matching the skills of engineers with the skills companies want. This provides visibility into skills that were previously difficult to evaluate and supports career development across a wide range of available paths, allowing engineers to branch into industries and sectors that differ from their prior experience.

Creating Jobs Local to Where Many Mechanical and Electrical Engineers Live

Manufacturers’ R&D centers are often located in suburban areas, which is also where a lot of mechanical and electrical engineers work. Forum Engineering is focused on 3,200 offices operated by leading domestic manufacturers in nationwide locations, which expands our business in into multiple areas and facilitates mobility for all types of engineers. This in turn contributes to the creation of local jobs.

Efficient and Reliable Matching Through Business Models That Utilize Digital Technology

Using Cognavi’s AI-based skills-matching system, you can visualize skills and possibilities that engineers didn’t realize existed by simply typing on the entry site what’s needed for the job. This technology allows staff with no engineering experience to make matches quickly and accurately, helping you plan your business accordingly.

    Promoting Normalization

We actively provide a place where people with disabilities can maximize their potential. We have an "Workshop" in Tokyo to handles some of the back-office operations, a "Craft Center" for paper bag assembly work, and a "Craft Center2" for recycled paper manufacturing business (paper making). We value the individuality of each employee and are working to create an environment that allows employees to pursue their own unique work style.

Actively Utilizing Renewable Energy and DX to Reduce Environmental Impact

We actively adopt digital technology and promote remote sales activities to each of our customers’ manufacturing sites. This decreases CO2 emissions from travel and helps reduce our use of paper. In addition, our main office is conducting business in an environmentally conscious manner by switching to certified non-FIT non-fossil electricity, which is renewable energy that does not emit CO2.

  • Governance

Strengthening Corporate Governance and Information Security

To ensure transparent and fair management, we have established three Outside Directors, one of which chairs our Nomination and Compensation Committee, as well as three Outside Audit and Supervisor Board Members. We have also implemented multiple security systems to combat the ever-changing threat of cyberattacks and continuously improve information security both internally and externally.
